Job Description

From August 19-22, 2024, Democrats from all over the country will gather together in the City of Chicago to participate in the Democratic National Convention, where we will nominate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election. The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) is assembling a diverse team with skills in community engagement, event logistics, finance, operations, IT, and more. The DNCC team will oversee and deliver on all aspects of the planning and execution of this Convention, from housing the delegates to convening Platform Committee meetings to producing the Convention’s live programming, which will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world.



The Delegate Tracker is responsible for the day to day tasks associated with the Office of the Secretary’s Convention Delegate Tracking Operation for the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Ideal candidates should be detail oriented, be familiar with basic database management and have proven organizational skills and the ability to foster relationships quickly. The position is based in Washington, D.C. and will relocate to Chicago two to four weeks prior to the Convention. This is a full-time temporary position that will end no later than September 13, 2024. 


REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • Convention Delegate Trackers report to the Deputy Director of the Secretary’s Office and Special Projects Manager for the DNCC

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all aspects of the Office of the Secretary’s Convention Operation.
  • Work with State Parties to compile accurate convention participant information in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain effective methods of communications with the staff of the State Parties.
  • Assist with the production of the Temporary and Final Rolls of Delegates and Alternates to the National Convention.
  • Serve as a liaison with national convention participants for the Secretary’s Office’s certification system.
  • Work with the Secretary’s Office staff to produce the Temporary and Final Rolls of Delegates and Alternates to the National Convention.
  • Staff the needs of the Convention Standing Committees.
  • Will staff the whip and boiler room operations during the National Convention.
  • Assist in any way the business of the national convention including but not limited to, the standing committees of the convention, the roll call and other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Up to 1 year experience working in political committees, campaigns, meeting planning or non-profit organizations preferred.
  • Accurate data entry skills and experience with shared databases. 
  • The ability to be creative when it comes to solving problems and using the resources you have available to you.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems calmly and diplomatically.
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks at once and prioritize accordingly.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with particular attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines. 
  • Experience directing volunteers is desirable.
  • Be ready to work extraordinarily hard.

TRAVEL

This job will require occasional travel—less than 10%


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The DNCC will mainly operate out of the Headquarters Office, but will also maintain a number of satellite offices and additional venues. All of these spaces are professional office environments, and will require the operation of office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. This position mainly uses an assigned workstation but may require movement or maintaining a stationary position for short or long periods of time. Employees may be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items weighing up to 10 lbs. All employees may request a reasonable accommodation to perform their job tasks.

JOB LOCATION: Washington, DC


FLSA ELIGIBILITY: This is a non-exempt position under the FLSA and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.


SALARY & BENEFITS: The anticipated starting salary for this position is $51,000. The DNCC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, and disability and life insurance.
