To help achieve this win-win outcome a ‘day-in-the-life’ in this role may include but not be limited to…

• Working under general supervision you will be understanding clients’ main challenges and developing solutions that help them transform mission-critical IBM DB2 on z/OS for hybrid cloud environments with stability security and agility.
• Participating in planning installing configuring maintaining verifying and administering IBM DB2 on z/OS
• Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform routine system maintenance tasks including DBA role and Hiper/PE review. Plan and execute upgrades to newer versions of DB2/DB2 data sharing for z/OS.
• Be a hands-on person and deliver and Involve in product installation/ configurations troubleshooting (performance 3rd party integrations security)
• Based on customer requirements deliver the deployment
• Installation and Configuration (DB2 System Programmer)
• DB2 Installation: Install Upgrade Maintenance and configure DB2 database software on various platforms (mainframes distributed systems).
• System Setup: Ensure proper setup of DB2 environment parameters and settings to meet organizational requirements.
• SMP/E & zOSMF must skill
• Maintenance and Upgrades
• Patch Management: Apply patches updates and fixes to DB2 systems to ensure security and stability.
• Version Upgrades: Plan and execute upgrades to new versions of DB2 including pre-upgrade testing and post-upgrade validation.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of DB2. Diagnose and resolve performance related issues.
• User Support: Provide technical support to end-users and address their inquiries or issues related to DB2 on z/OS
• Conduct user training sessions as needed.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Implement monitoring tools to track DB2 / System health and performance using DB2 PE OMEGAMON for DB. Generate reports on DB2 usage performance metrics and other relevant KPIs.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills as you work across the client partner and IBM team.
• Participating in technical solution workshops

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 5-10 Years of industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field.
• Installation and Configuration (DB2 System Programmer).
• DB2 Installation: Install Upgrade Maintenance and configure DB2 database software on various platforms (mainframes distributed systems).
• System Setup: Ensure proper setup of DB2 environment parameters and settings to meet organizational requirements.
• SMP/E & zOSMF must skill
• Maintenance and Upgrades
• Patch Management: Apply patches updates and fixes to DB2 systems to ensure security and stability.
• Version Upgrades: Plan and execute upgrades to new versions of DB2 including pre-upgrade testing and post-upgrade validation.
• Proven experience in DB2 database administration on z/OS. DB2 Data Sharing DB2 Admin tool.
• Basic understanding of CICS MQ RACF SMS and DB2 connect on open platform.
• Senior knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience in DB2 Performance Optimization and Upgrades
• Able to communicate effectively with mainframe application programmers.
• Understanding of document management and workflow processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Should be familiar with development life cycle processes tools concepts and methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and lead the team of junior developers as per the situation
• Ability to guide team members on technical & non-technical issues during execution
• Experience in DB2 data sharing group is a big plus
• Knowledge in Parallel Sysplex CICSplex is a plus
• COBOL REXX language is a plus.
• Experience in OMEGAMON for DB2
• Good vision on solving customer issues set proper expectations and clear/concise.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
