Job Description

As a Demand and Supply Manager in the Merchandising function, you will drive efficient regional demand fulfilment, spurring sales growth. You will lead a dynamic team of Demand & Supply Leads as well as lead the regional buying, offering key insights. Guiding demand planning, based on supply dynamics, manage stock levels and purchasing, and shape buying methods in collaboration with Merchandising Managers. 

This hybrid role reports into our Regional Head of Demand and Supply and is based out of New York, NY. 

A Day in the Life 

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities* 

Drive regional top-down demand and supply planning process for region: 

  • Develop top-down plan on total region, ensuring defined selling (net+gross), stock and reduction cost targets in alignment with regional strategy, financial plan, and stock to sales net plan 

  • Support Merchandise Managers in setting their customer group sales plans in TDP 

  • Ensure sum of customer group plans are in line with total regional plan 

  • Provide rolling update on forecast and deviation from plan on region and market level (short, mid and long term) to highlight potential action needs such as buying or stock activation 

  • Accountable for execution and outcome of regional buying methods (i.e. Pluto) 


Drive in and post season stock management: 

  • Set the top-down sale & activation strategy to land the stock and reduction targets set up for the year & quarter 

  • Rolling collaboration with Inventory optimization manager to understand stock management needs from logistics perspective 

  • Forecast, budget and follow up on reduction costs with Head of Merchandising 


Lead & develop your team: 

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team demand and supply leads and project managers 

  • Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training to ensure the team meets or exceeds performance targets 

  • Lead cross functional initiatives and deep dives to enhance an omni supply and demand planning targets 

  • Contribute insights to global & regional counter parts for commercial planning strategy discussions 

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • University degree, preferably in Business, Economics/ Finance or similar 

  • 7+ years' experience merchandising, buying or planning, stock management preferably experience from both retail and digital 

  • Previous formal or informal leadership experience

  • Understanding of buying and planning, ideally with Assortment Office experience 

  • Significant analytical skills and detail oriented, able to manage tasks with significant business impact 

  • Strong technical ability to operate and be up to date with merchandising systems, tools, and reports 

  • Understanding of stock management strategies and practices 

  • Expert at data translation for all audiences, inc. C-suite and senior management

  • High level of salesmanship 

  • Advanced Excel user 

  • Structured way of working 

  • Collaborative personality and good communication skills 

  • Oral and written proficiency in English

Compensation: salary range is $112,811-$126,912 annually**
