Job Summary:
The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize the company's demand planning process. This individual works closely with sales, marketing, and production teams to forecast future demand for products and to ensure that the company has sufficient inventory to meet customer needs.
In addition, the Demand Planner is critical in ensuring the demand planning process is optimized to meet customer needs while minimizing costs and improving efficiency. The incumbent must be skilled in data analysis and forecasting as well as have strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate throughout the organization.
This position does not supervise employees. However, our Demand Planner needs to be adept at communicating and influencing from our 3PLβs inventory floors up to our Sales and Marketing management levels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Forecasting: Develop and maintain an accurate demand forecast based on historical data, market trends, and other relevant factors.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and supply planning to gather information on promotions, new product launches, and other factors that influence demand.
- Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels to balance the need for product availability with the cost of carrying excess inventory.
- Data Analysis: Analyze market trends, customer demand, and sales data to conduct demand consensus reviews and make forecast adjustments to improve forecast accuracy.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track actual sales against forecasted demand and generate regular reports to evaluate forecast accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to improve demand planning processes and implement best practices.
- Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks that may impact supply chain efficiency and product availability.
- Other Duties as assigned by Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Analyze and interpret data to make informed decisions. This includes understanding statistical models, identifying trends, and creating reports to support decision-making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Willingness to continuously learn and improve processes to optimize demand planning accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to think ahead and anticipate potential issues or challenges that may arise in the supply chain and respond accordingly.
- Adapts well to changing business circumstances and comes up with creative solutions to problems as they arise.
- Working off-hours is required to interface with teams in Nanjing, China.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelorβs degree in Logistics, Business Management, Supply Chain Management or related field. Master's degree would be a plus.
- 3 plus years of experience in demand planning or a similar field.
- Experience with statistical forecasting and demand management software is highly desirable.
- Experience in Oracle ERP systems is preferred.
Travel:
- This position requires up to 10% US and international travel.
