Job Title: Demo Engineer

Introduction:

The Demo Engineer/ Associate Systems Engineer is a hybrid role encompassing aspects from both a Sales Engineer (business) and a Software Engineer (technical) focused around delivering technical assets and collateral needed to support marketing and sales activities of hardware and/or software solutions. The position assists in the build and support of demonstration assets and/or collateral, working directly with business and technical input from cross-functional teams including salespersons, solution architects, product managers and product engineers. The assets they help create and manage are used for a wide range of technical enablement activities targeted for both internal as well as external customers, including business partners that integrate with or resell our products.

Associate Systems Engineers often participate in customer/business partner facing programs or events, including EIPs (Early Involvement Program), technical product porting engagements, technical education conferences or other technical product trainings, and are often involved in both pre- and post-sales support of key customers, given their role as subject matter experts in their product areas.

The Associate Systems Engineers also works as a Partner Advocate with key ISV, Solution or Channel Partners, contributing to the technical relationship with those partners through discovery and enablement activities to ensure those partners are ready to excel working with our solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Implements demonstration asset features or configurations as needed. Develops and tests/debugs client- and server-side code. Resolves complex technical challenges requiring a diverse scope of domain and discipline knowledge. Interfaces with internal & external teams to ensure alignment and scalability of deliverables across multiple different engagements.
  • Contributes to customer and business partner facing activities, including industry events, EIPs, solution porting, technical training, and other technical conferences
  • Collaborates with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one product line, interfacing with sales, marketing, services, and product teams to deliver on technical enablement assets and collateral
  • Partner Advocate to at least one business partner, leading technical enablement activities to ensure partners can best work, integrate, or resell our products


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.• 2+ years of experience developing or supporting modern software environments or computer systems, including cloud/enterprise content. • Fluent English Language Speaking, Written Skills.
  • Exposure to giving technical presentations to explain to customers or partners how products and services work, their benefits and how they can impact their business.
  • Exposure working with sales and solutions architects directly supporting sales engagements.
  • Exposure working with Solutions that may involve enterprise-, cloud- and client-side components which may leverage Java, JavaScript and modern UI frameworks, RESTful microservices with JSON & Swagger, and relational and no-SQL databases.
  • Experience working with the software development process which may include evolving continuous build, automated test, and deployment platforms which utilize Jenkins, containers via Docker, Azure, and Kubernetes.
  • Exposure working within an "Agile" development environment.
  • Experience interacting with relational and No-SQL databases
  • Experience working with or supporting modern web applications, including applications build with HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and various JS frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.JS.
  • Strong programming and analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork, and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient with tools for Toshiba work activities, software development, & release management activities.
  • Experience with code versioning tools like Git.
  • Experience with Windows- and Linux-based operating systems, including software installation, light administration, and simple scripting
  • Proven ability to work independently supporting multiple concurrent engagements or products.
  • Retail Domain Knowledge (store operations and POS concepts) and experience with retail POS devices.
  • Up to 30% travel is required
