Summary

About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a dental laboratory technician to perform detailed technical operations in the fabrication, design, testing, repair, and constructing of complex dental prostheses for patients with severe dentofacial abnormalities.

  • This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual season influenza vaccinations in accordance with Defense Health Agency Procedural Instruction 6025.34.
  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 25% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Shifts may be rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes designing simple/complex restorative cases for various prostheses on natural anatomy; utilizing various analog and/or computer aided processes to fabricate/manufacture prostheses; AND working with a multitude of impression materials to fabricate prostheses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
