Department Chief Engineer, Human & Organizational Systems
Job Description
The Human & Organiza tional Systems Department (L233) is searching for an integrator and technically proficient Department Chief Engineer (CE) to provide technical leadership for our quality program and ensure the quality of delivery. The Department CE will be a member of the department leadership team and report to the Department Manager. The successful candidate can anticipate dedicating significant time performing Department CE duties while maintaining the bulk of their time on projects associated with the department's capabilitie s. This position is open to Lead and Principal candidates.
The Department CE will guide the execution of a data driven and impactful technical work program that addresses sponsor mission-critical outcomes. The Department CE is expected to make significant technical contributions and provide thought leadership in one or more technical areas central to the Department's work program. The CE will work with department Group Leaders to develop and mentor the next generation of technical thought leaders. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate application of the L233 department and Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (L230) division capabilities at a level that audiences with varying levels of understanding can comprehend.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Ensure the department's delivery of innovative high-impact, high-quality solutions for sponsor's critical mission problems:
- Execute a technical quality program to ensure products and recommendations delivered to MITRE's sponsors are independent, data-driven, technically sound, and properly reviewed
- Develop and execute technical quality reviews to ensure the production of high-quality technical products
- Implement review processes (such as peer reviews) to ensure deliverables are accurate, timely, and meet expectations
- Act as key technical SME to support meetings for work shaping and presentations to sponsors
- Communicate innovative concepts to senior sponsors
- Mentor staff
- Demonstrate and promote MITRE's cultural attributes (speed, risk-taking, adaptability, collaboration, grace, and respect)
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Department Manager
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in applicable major and 10+ years experience in organization change and agility, stakeholder engagement and communications, and workforce strategy
- Quality management expertise
- Technical capability management expertise
- Knowledge management expertise
- Work shaping experience
- Experience interacting with senior executives
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact solutions
- Consistent demonstration of MITRE values
- Experience using MITRE collaboration tools - SharePoint, TEAMs, MURAL, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional prominence, as evidenced by recognition for expertise beyond MITRE
- Demonstrated expertise in L230 capabilities beyond the L233 department (business innovation, business process engineering, enterprise architecture, enterprise transition planning, strategic foresight, and strategic performance management)
