Department Head of Surgery
Job Description
The Department Head will report directly to the Dean of the School of Medicine and work closely with the leadership at our partnering clinical facilities, our regional campuses, and the LSU Healthcare Network. Partnering clinical facilities include the University Medical Center-New Orleans (UMCNO), the Southeast Louisiana Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, West Jefferson Medical Center, Ochsner Medical Center–Kenner, Children’s Hospital New Orleans, and others, including hospitals in Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
The Department Head will also work with associate and assistant deans to ensure high-quality educational experiences for students and residents. The Department Head will have opportunities to collaborate with other clinical and basic science departments and with our multidisciplinary centers of excellence, including the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center, the Cardiovascular Center, the Neuroscience Center, and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center.
