The Department Manager I is responsible for:
- Managing department and work groups.
- Supervising and controlling annual budgets.
- Facilitating issue identification and resolution.
- Collaborating in planning, workflow analysis, procedure changes, scheduling, and other related administrative duties.

Responsibilities:
- Manages department operations and personnel.
- Completes staffing, training, work flow analysis and performance management.
- Manages staffing to ensure appropriate allocation and compliance with goals and objectives.
- Monitors quality and financial performance.
- Ensures compliance with government health regulations, JCAHO guidelines, quality requirements and customer service standards.
- Recommends enhancement and cost saving strategies.
- Resolves interdepartmental issues to ensure consistency in quality, procedure and policy application.
- Develops, monitors and implements programs to enhance customer service, develop skills and improve scope of service.
- Analyzes programs and makes improvements. Participates in managers meetings and relevant committees as assigned by Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associate's degree.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
Certifications:
- None required.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to take appropriate action in a stressful environment.
Work Experience:
- Minimum three years team lead, supervisory or management experience.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Offset: High School diploma/GED and five years of experience.
- Offset: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
- May require extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.
- Must be able to walk to attend meetings; must have normal or corrected vision to normal range.
- Ability to clearly communicate by phone and in person.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
