You will help large, complex government organizations to transform their global human capital, training, and education enterprise. The issues to be resolved are often difficult to define and quantify; may involve complex, traditionally competing interests; are often characterized by senior leadership interest and visibility, and require extensive proving and analysis. 

DoD Policy Analyst 

Technical Assent is hiring for multiple positions supporting multiple efforts to help the government create a more clear and effective policy framework.  These efforts will involve a range of activities relating to the development and execution of policy, including development as well as the downstream impacts of new policy or changes to policy.  We seek consultant-minded individuals with some background in defense or federal administrative processes, a keen desire to learn, and ability to work effectively with diverse teams. 

Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience. 

Associate Consultant Level (0-3 yrs experience) 
  • Works in a team environment to research, prepare and deliver high quality, on-time deliverables to clients. 
  • Earns client trust through completion of tasks and deliverables that support client outcomes and decision-making, including research, report development, and delivery of recommendations in certain cases.  
  • Independently manages time to complete assigned tasks and contribute to team effort.  
  • Takes advantage of learning opportunities beyond specialty. 
  • Contributes to organizational capability by building reusable process assets, templates, and tools that improve the consistency of our services.  
  • Supports business development by playing an active role in researching customer needs, competitive environment, and actively supporting proposal efforts. 
  • Maintains professional demeanor that is consistent with Technical Assent core values at all times.  
Consultant (3-5 yrs experience) 
  • Leads teams tasked to research, prepare and deliver high quality, on-time deliverables to clients. 
  • Builds rapport with the client by seeing assigned tasks in the context of broader strategic goals, anticipating risks, and supporting decision through well-researched, data-driven reports.  
  • Independently manages time to complete assigned tasks, leads others in completing tasks, and contributes to team effort.  
  • Takes advantage of learning opportunities beyond specialty, connects them to existing knowledge, and shares knowledge with peers through writing and speaking 3-5 times per year.  
  • Contributes to organizational capability by building reusable process assets, templates, and tools that improve the consistency of our services. 
  • Supports business development by playing an active role in researching customer needs, competitive environment, and actively supporting proposal efforts. Recognizes opportunities and help define customer solutions.  
  • Work with Technical Assent Management to develop change orders or proposals that will solve the gap. Maintains a professional demeanor that is consistent with Technical Assent core values at all times.  
Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Curious, problem solving, and open-minded approach to work; we are looking for someone who has a base of knowledge but wants to investigate and learn new things 
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and analyzing policy in state or federal government 
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills 
  • Experience facilitating meetings and events for a variety of purposes, including both large exercises and table-top discussions, as well as intimate collaborative sessions 
  • Experience developing deliverables, white papers, and other materials for Senior Executive Service level leadership 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD SECRET or Public Trust security clearance  

Desired: 

  • Direct experience working with Department of Defense policy development and administrative processes 
  • An understanding of the logistics, contracting, planning, and/or intelligence functions of the Department of Defense 
  • Small-group (2-4 person) team leadership experience, such as developing and executing POAMs for individual lines of effort within a major project 
  • Active DOD SECRET or Public Trust security clearance  

Location:  Washington, DC - must reside in Washington, D.C.
