Job Opening:
The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for Deputy Chief Ranger, State House Security Program, Program Manager IV.
As directed by the Chief, the Deputy Chief - Administration (DCA) will assist with the overall leadership, administrative duties, management, and long-term strategic planning of the DCR State House Security Program (SHSP). The DCA will maintain a highly visible, regular presence at the State House, and ensure that all programmatic goals and expectations are being met. The DCA will provide unwavering support of the State House Security Program mission and its future vision while providing valuable insight and feedback regarding day-to-day operations and program needs, including the performance of administrative functions within the SHSP. The DCA will oversee the Administrative Section of the SHSP. The DCA will mentor and coach supervisory and front-line staff to ensure their success within the program.
The DCA, in conjunction with the Chief, will play a lead role in the guidance, development, and accountability of staff within the SHSP. The DCA will provide 24/7 availability and/or on-site response for emergency situations and will also be prepared to cover essential shifts and posts when critical staffing needs arise. The DCA will also act, in support of the Chief, as a liaison for the program and provide effective and timely day-to-day operational support to our internal and external partners in a way that enhances the program's presence and reputation within the building.
Duties include:
-Provision of administrative support for various SHSP functions
- Assisting with development, distribution, and implementation of policies and protocols
- Oversight of processes related to staff hiring - Development of staff schedules, and oversight of schedule bid processes
- Liaising with the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs Human Resources and Labor Relations Divisions
- Review and process of time off requests
-Oversight of overtime distribution and tracking of related documentation and reports
-Coordination and tracking of training and certifications
-Provision of administrative training
- Provision of operational oversight to the SHSP if/when serving in an operational capacity, as needed
Qualifications
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
II. An Associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
III. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
IV. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.
V. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
