  • Make independent editorial decisions (accept, reject, revise, transfer) while ensuring adherence to publication ethics and journal policies.
  • Coordinate the peer review process by selecting, inviting, and managing reviewers, and evaluating reviewer feedback to guide manuscript outcomes.
  • Assess revised submissions and author rebuttals to ensure completeness, scientific validity, and compliance with editorial expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for commissioned content and actively engage authors for review articles, special issues, and high-impact contributions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with researchers, authors, reviewers, and the broader scientific community to enhance journal visibility and submissions.
  • Contribute to journal strategy, editorial board development, and process improvements in collaboration with Editors-in-Chief and internal teams.
  • Monitor editorial performance metrics and support initiatives aimed at improving peer review efficiency and workflow quality.
  • Requirements:

    • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Ecology or a closely related field.
    • Proven experience in academic publishing, editorial work, or manuscript peer review processes.
    • Strong expertise in Ecology with the ability to evaluate complex scientific research critically and accurately.
    • Deep understanding of publication ethics, peer review standards, and scholarly communication practices.
    • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple manuscripts simultaneously.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with academic authors and reviewers.
    • Experience in commissioning scientific content and contributing to journal development is highly desirable.
    • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and a high level of scientific rigor.
    • Mentorship capability and a collaborative mindset to support junior editors and peers.
    • Data-driven approach to evaluating editorial performance and improving processes.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with academic publishing standards.
      • Fully remote work flexibility.
      • Opportunity to shape scientific discourse and contribute to high-impact ecological research publishing.
      • Strong professional development within a global academic publishing environment.
      • Exposure to international research communities, conferences, and scientific collaborations.
      • Inclusive and knowledge-driven culture focused on innovation and continuous learning.
      • Opportunity to influence journal strategy and editorial direction at a senior level.
