Job Description

Works independently most of the time, taking a lead role in processing of complex Derivatives transactions, where expertise is required to interpret, create and update policies, guidelines and/or processes as part of own work, or in support of other Partners. Full ownership for one or more processes, reports and/or procedures. May own one or more complex/sensitive client relationships as it relates to team deliverables in addition to providing guidance and support to other Partners. May participate or lead strategic initiatives as subject matter expert. Analytically and procedurally exceptional, primarily on daily execution. Expert in a specific skill set as it relates to team deliverables.

• Ensures that all team duties are completed accurately within internal, market and SLA deadlines and timeframes, assisting and guiding other Partners as required, identifying and resolving sensitive and contentious issues on behalf of the team.

• Assists team with prioritization of work, where necessary

• Manages multiple client queries and issues, ensuring their timely resolution. Regularly communicates and coordinates via verbal and written modes, across senior internal and external parties to research and resolve exceptions and queries.

• Attends senior internal and external meetings with Clients and Counterparties where required, taking a lead on behalf of Northern Trust.

• Ensures that procedures are followed and updated regularly, assisting and guiding other Partners as required. Completes review of procedures, leading to final sign off.

• Ensures that controls are designed, adhered to, and updated evidenced daily, assisting and guiding other Partners as required.

• Contributes to requirements gathering, testing and implementation phases of any complex Change projects in which the team is a stakeholder

• Provides support and acts as escalation for relationships with business partners and brokers/counterparties and clients.

• Assists in maintaining the general ledger accounting and financial reporting for client accounts completing necessary reconciliation tasks, overseeing age and volumes thresholds for team

• Carries out complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact

• Is thoroughly technically in area of expertise and has in depth operational knowledge of other areas

• Delivers a work product that does not require revision

• Ability to process large and variable volumes accurately whilst consistently meeting external and internal deadlines

• Thorough knowledge of the Derivatives market, complex products and operating conventions, including product lifecycles

• Excellent MS Excel/Word skills

• Experience of using Derivative market platforms and utilities

• Ability to identify and pursue improvement opportunities

  • Experience in Accounting and/or Finance and a College or University degree in Business preferred, although other disciplines considered along with some 6+ years relevant work experience is required.
