Grant Leading Technology is seeking a Design and Quality Manager candidate with program-level experience planning and overseeing government new construction and renovation design programs with multiple buildings over multiple locations, varying in scale and complexity. This position will be located in Washington, D.C. and the hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm EST.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as client subject mater expert in regard to design industry practices, current digital tools utilized for planning and design, the technical aspects of commercial and/or government new construction, and renovation and current building and construction standards and codes
  • Collaborate with peers and other stakeholders to develop procurement acquisition strategies for a range of Request for Proposal (RFP) types
  • Develop, implement, track adherence to, and report: program design standards, program scope, program budgets, and program schedules
  • Formulate, establish, communicate, and train stakeholders on standard design policies, processes, and procedures
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to develop strategic plans, campus master plans, facility master plans, master facility plans, or other master plan documents for implementation
  • Interact with all levels of client management structure to express ideas clearly and solve complex problems related to master planning, facility planning and management, and design and construction in commercial and government buildings
  • Engage peers, master planners, architects, engineers, general construction contractors, other construction vendors, and all levels of client management structure (possessing varying levels of design knowledge)
  • Enforce adherence to contract requirements, building and construction standards and codes, design standards, and agency-standard planning and design processes and procedures
  • Assemble and analyze data to develop clear arguments key to making design-related decisions or solving design-related problems and expressing those arguments, in writing and presentation format, clearly and persuasively
  • Assemble presentations that clearly and efficiently communicate program master plans, design status and health of program planning and design scope, schedule and budget upon request and with short notice
  • Lead effort to create, review, revise, release, and ensure compliance with client Design Standards addressing deficiencies in contemporary design, IT, Security, and discontinued products
  • Develop planning-level blocking and conceptual designs for space use changes or improvements
  • Assist in planning and design for reconfigured or new space for personnel
  • Develop statements of work for Design Build; Design, Bid, Build; and Architect/Engineering Services
  • Initiate the coordination of all requirements gathering and programming efforts in the planning and design phase of projects program-wide
  • Manage receipt of all design-related close-out documents
  • Review, distribute, consolidate comments, accept/reject all drawing packages on behalf of client
  • Schedule and lead all design-related meetings
  • Field verify design drawings to ensure stakeholder requirements are met
  • Review and provide feedback on design-related payment applications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of related government Design Management experience
  • Experience planning for Design Programs with budgets exceeding $50,000,000
  • PMP or PgMP professional credential required
  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, design, or engineering-related field
  • Expert functionality in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software
  • Expert level experience with MS Office products
  • Strong quantitative and analytical competencies
  • Excellent team player with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; be comfortable interacting with executive level management

Preferred:

  • Experience in design for new construction or renovation of courts or court-related programs
  • AICP professional credential
  • LEED Green Associate professional credential
  • LEED AP BD+C professional credential
