Job Description
Eaton's Power Delivery Division (PDD) is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based in our Waukesha, WI facility. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the listed facility will be considered.
Position Overview:
The Design Engineer will develop custom designs for distribution transformers meeting customer requirements, industry standards, and company internal standards and procedures. Creates and maintains product definition data and provides support to other functional areas within the company.

Essential Functions:
- Develop product drawings and models. Manage the models using SAP PLM.
- Design custom products with standard requirements to meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Review and interpret design specifications to establish customer requirements.
- Process design order information, collaborating with marketing and sales to guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Supply all information to create material masters, bill of materials, and characteristic data in SAP. Also responsible for developing customer drawings and nameplates and maintaining all product documentation updates.
- Generate manufacturing information correctly and in the expected time (On-Time Design (OTD)) and design errors are key metrics to track performance.
- Understand the various components that are needed in the product design. Continuously expand knowledge of the products.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing regarding custom designs, specifications, and functional performance problems.
- Complete design and information requests for Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales according to the procedures established by the business
- Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned, using a formal methodology to improve product and process quality and cost.

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution required.
- Experience with any CAD tool like Inventor, AutoCAD
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in the US without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD tools with electrical or mechanical systems. Knowledge of standard industry drafting/modeling practices
- 1+ years of design experience with electromechanical systems
- Experience with custom engineering design and processes is desired.
- Experience in creating, loading, and storing engineering designs within an ERP system, preferably SAP, is desired.
- Experience completing small-scale improvement projects is desired.
- Familiarity with FEA, modeling, detailing, and layout drafting techniques is desired.
- Knowledge of power systems, distribution/power transformer products/applications, and/or industrial automation/controls is desired.
- Ability to excel as a team player by successfully collaborating with engineering peers as well as cross-functional personnel to ensure custom designs meet customer expectations.
