The kiosk manufacturing industry is growing rapidly due to the many advantages of self-service kiosks. Use cases are popping-up in a wide array of settings from healthcare check-in to remote/on-site betting to trucker check-in to to stadium food ordering to airport identification and transportation security. Working primarily in sheet metal, the Design Engineer transforms concepts int detailed fabrication drawings, to produce kiosks of unparalleled style and performance. We are in search of a talented Design Engineer who is ready to create kiosks that redefine the future of sheet metal design. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Sales team and Industrial Designers to fully understand the form and function requirements for each design, including design language, hardware and software components, and environmental needs
  • Transform general product concepts into detailed sheet metal designs using SolidWorks Pro
  • Produce detailed 3D models of final design, including all components, attachment hardware, and assemblies
  • Produce detailed fabrication drawings, weldment assembly instructions, and machine-readable files for fabrication programming
  • Estimate effort and duration of the design process for product concepts
  • Modify existing product designs to incorporate new electronics, update design language, and clean up old, incomplete design documentation
  • Control the design configuration of all products utilizing SolidWorks PDM Pro
  • Support the Manufacturing team in fabrication and assembly
  • Incorporate manufacturability optimizations and design improvements identified by the Manufacturing team

This is a salaried (exempt), full-time position. You will be working on-site in our Cerritos, California facility. Starting pay for this position is $70k to $85k annually.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have the following knowledge and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent recent experience
  • Three years' experience using SolidWorks Pro
  • Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication fundamentals, including:
    • Bend radii and k-factors
    • Capabilities and limitations of press brake operation
    • Welding styles and methods, common welding terminology and symbology
    • Material capabilities and limitations of sheet metal (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) and common fasteners
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents documents, drawings, and instructions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information to and respond to inquiries from others, including co-workers, managers, customers, and vendors
  • Able to apply advanced mathematical concepts, including exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations
  • Able to apply mathematical operations to tasks including frequency distribution, determination of test reliability, validity analysis of variance, correlations techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
  • Able to effectively prioritize work to meet changing and overlapping deadlines
  • Experience working with an ERP system, Abas ERP experience preferred
