Design Engineer

We are looking for a new colleague to join our Engineering Department in Washington, MI!

Position Summary: As a Design Engineer, you will propose assembly level designs to meet customer requirements. You will work with customers and internal component team members to refine component and assembly design and to produce detailed 3D design and 2D drawings. This role requires you to be flexible and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Propose product packaging design concept to meet customer packaging requirement.
• Prepare presentations and lead communication meetings with customer to present design concept and collect customer feedback.
• Lead ZF internal design reviews to ensure design proposal meeting customer and ZF internal requirement and standards.
• Be the power user in mechanical 3D/2D CAD platforms as well as design data management and exchange systems (e.g., Catia, Windchill, TeamCenter).
• Propose design improvements for current production and new programs.
• Work with component engineers to ensure components meeting system level requirement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• General understanding and application of mechanical engineering principles in material mechanics, gear design, geometric tolerancing, fasteners, etc.
• Experience in components and assembly design with one or more major CAD platforms (e.g., Catia).
