Design Engineer

Enovation Controls is looking for a Design Engineer for Product Solution Engineering Group to support Panel, Sheet Metal and Wire departments. This position requires experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to design and develop sheet metal, instrumentation/control panels including parts, assemblies, wire harnesses and electrical schematics. Good understanding of modern diesel engines and their applications would be a plus.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Technical Work & CI Activities

• Design, Development and Documentation of new and existing Sheet metal, Instrumentation /Control panels and Wire harnesses with accuracy for Industrial, Off-highway and Recreational markets through following steps.
• Gather and understand requirements through formal documentation/discussion or hands-on measurement of the equipment.
• Create costed BOM to quote the products.
• Collaborate with Application Engineering, Product management, Sales, and other Engineering teams to create simple, cost effective, manufacturable, and Poka-yoke designs.
• Create mechanical designs of products using SolidWorks, schematics using AutoCAD and wire connection lists (wire cut list) using excel.
• Thoroughly check drawings and BOM's before submitting for review and approval through DCN/ECO processes.
• Hands-on participation in implementing and validating products on the equipment.
• Identify and execute initiatives that improve product cost, quality, and design throughput.
• Drive Continuous Improvement within the manufacturing process flows through process automation and poka-yoke solutions to ensure quality, delivery, and cost goals are achieved.

Planning and Communication

• Identify and scope effort involved in product development.
• Estimate and Plan work within Visual Studio Azure DevOps or similar project planning software.
• Pro-actively identify and communicate risks early and iteratively.
• Liaison between requester, management, and production.

Support

• Provide support in other areas internally to assist in new product development, and product maintenance.
• Provide engineering support to customers and production departments to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Provide Sales, Manufacturing and Purchasing/SCM support as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology or Appropriate technical training with 7+ years of experience in the relevant field.
• 2+ years of experience in engine controller/Instrumentation and harness industry is preferred.
• Must be a self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, and self-starting individual.
• Must be able to work effectively with others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Have a high sense of urgency to meet or exceed customer expectations and achieve daily commitments.
• AutoCAD experience is required and SolidWorks or any other 3D design package experience preferred.
• Hands on experience in working with equipment/engines.
• Good understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerance).
• Good understanding of MRP system preferred.
• Actively participate in the Corporate Quality Improvement Process.
• Good understanding of CAN protocol such as J1939 would be a plus.
• Ability to learn new tasks outside of main discipline.
• Up to 10% travel required.
