Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Design Engineer I-II based at our manufacturing facility in Berea, KY. 

What you will do: 

  • Design Components: Assist in designing components or systems to resolve field and manufacturing issues, including 3D CAD modeling of parts. 

  • Product Development: Support new product development and improvements to existing products by selecting materials and processes with guidance from the engineering team. 

  • Engineering Support: Prepare and release engineering change notices (ECNs) and assist in maintaining product certifications. 

  • Problem Solving: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges, ensuring cost-effective and easy-to-manufacture solutions. 

  • Customer Support: Provide technical support to internal departments, such as manufacturing and quality assurance, to ensure smooth production.

What you will need: 

Level I:  

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. 

  • Experience: 0-3 years of experience in design engineering, with basic knowledge of 3D CAD modeling and engineering principles. 

 

Level II: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred, or Associate’s degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience. 

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a design engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment with exposure to metal fabrication and assembly processes. 

 

Skills, Experience & Abilities  

  • CAD Proficiency: Basic experience with 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). 

  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing environments and processes, such as machining, welding, and assembly. 

  • Problem-Solving: Analytical skills to identify design issues and implement effective solutions. 

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly. 

  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate across different departments to meet project goals.
