Design Engineer Intern

Position Summary: Coop/Intern to support transmission application design team. The team is responsible for the application design of 8 speed automotive transmissions. The Coop/Intern must support design studies for new transmission application and component optimizations, and Also the definition of new application design guidelines/procedures has to be supported.

Position Responsibilities:
• Support all design activities including new transmission concepts, component optimizations and clearance evaluations with the CAD software Creo.• Work together with design group to create an application design guidelines/process• Support introduction process of design changes. Create presentations with complex technical contents for customer meetings.• Support design team with customers, suppliers, and internal departments such as sales, purchasing, and quality, on design issues for ZF production and OEM licensed applications.• Support team projects as required.• Create or support Excel Spreadsheets to help organize information or create standardized calculation tools.• Provide basic engineering calculation and analysis support.• Ensure departmental compliance with all IATF16949 policies and procedures.• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:
• Must be a student currently enrolled in a four-year engineering degree program at an accredited institution• Basic knowledge in Mechanical Engineering• 3D CAD system knowledge (Creo preferred)• Technical drawing reading skills• Proficient with Microsoft Office software• Ability to interface with cross-functional teams (German development and Gray Court production location)• Good verbal and written communication skills• English language competency
