Job Purpose:

Engineering analysis and design of specific portions in a new product development program; redesign of products in a maintenance program, or a complete design project as assigned.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

1. Create designs to satisfy the product objectives related to the specific areas assigned. Create marketable ideas for new and revised products. Performs engineering analysis to predict the behavior of a proposed design and resolves design problems.

2. Responsible for the assigned areas of design and assures that cost, timing, durability, performance, manufacturability, and quality to meet project objectives plus Toro and Industry Safety Standards. Conducts regular design, manufacturability, safety, serviceability and safety reviews for the assigned areas of design.

3. May provide work direction and monitor the designers, draftspersons, and Experimental Shop mechanics assigned to the areas of design responsibility.

4. Works with vendors to ensure selection of application approved, quality components.

5. Assists with such things as writing project requests, documentation, and all activity through release and change management using established Engineering and Development Procedures.

6. Communicate and coordinate work with the following and is responsible for designs achieved with their assistance: Experimental Shop, Test, CAE, Accounting, Purchasing, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Styling.

7. Frequently reports, verbally and in writing, on development progress and engineering analysis of product design. Keeps supervisor informed.

8. Supports company Quality Policy by working within the documented Quality System. Participates in quality initiatives and training as needed.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

• Professional Engineering license, or
• Bachelors degree in an ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or Agricultural engineering program or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical Aeronautical or Agricultural engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program
• Intern work experience and successful completion of EIT requirements is desirable.
• Clear understanding of modeling and drafting using CAD.

Other Job-Related Components:

• Design decisions may affect sales, warranty, customer satisfaction, and product safety.
• Travel to test sites, distributors, customers, vendors, manufacturing facilities and others will be required.
• Frequent use of SAP, Windchill and MS Office

It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
