As a Design Manager, you'll be responsible for building and scaling a high-performing design team, shaping Atlan's design vision, and ensuring our products are intuitive, delightful, and user-centric.
Your Mission at Atlan 🎯
- Lead and mentor a talented team of designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Partner with product managers and engineers to define product vision, translate user needs into design solutions, and drive product roadmaps.
- Understand the domain, users and technology of the product area(s) which you work on deeply, and proactively understand the broader product.
- Listen in on customer calls and collaborate with the UX Research team to conduct user interviews with our to identify areas of improvement in the product and strategy and mentor other designers on how they conduct and communicate their research.
- Collaborate with the Product Management team and work on identifying, defining and solving complex user experience issues in the pods you’re responsible for.
- Participate in recruiting - conducting portfolio reviews, whiteboard challenges, and contributing towards hiring related assets and establishing the brand of Atlan’s design team in the community.
- Own and mature the design process end to to end - from concepts, user flows and wireframes to visuals, and shipping of the feature and impact validation - and ship deliverables that raise the bar of craft and quality of Atlan’s user experience
- Participate in our design critique sessions and mentor other designers and help them benefit from your expertise and experience
- Spot process inefficiencies and take initiatives to improve Atlan's overall product development process.
- Help improve and evangelize the design culture within Atlan!
What Makes You a Match for us 😍
- You enjoy learning continuously and can absorb complex domain related concepts quickly and effectively. Databases, querying, lineage etc will soon become the jargon you'll have to speak and understand. You'll stand out if you have a background in Computer Science or a fair understanding of the data ecosystem
- You bring years of experience designing & shipping consumer grade enterprise products or complex web applications that are loved by end users and customers alike. Experience working in the data domain will be an added bonus.
- You’ve got a portfolio of work that shows us your product design & strategy skills from concept to visual design execution
- You have managed and scaled design teams before, and love taking initiative to mature existing processes, culture and team rituals to build a world class design team.
- You have strong critical thinking skills - i.e. you demonstrate the ability to deconstruct a complex, ambiguous problem into its base components and figure out the most effective way to solve it
- You can communicate effectively and work autonomously - it will be much needed in a remote setup!
- You do not wait for instructions and guidelines but believe in taking end-to-end ownership of things - to do the right thing for our end users.
