ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝

As a critical part of our growing product design organization, this role will focus on optimizing our team’s operations, tools, and best practices. You will implement key processes and standards that protect the integrity of the design team’s work while also improving upon the velocity and efficiency in our product development lifecycle. You’ll bring visibility and understanding to our cross-functional partners, fostering better organizational awareness of design and enhanced opportunities for collaboration. You’ll be a champion of design and socialize the value of design company-wide.

This role reports to the Director of Product Design.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

• Ensure that Product Design teams have what they need to develop their best work on time
• Help mitigate the workflow problems that impact our teams’ health
• Drive and improve the creative process in partnership with design leadership
• Establish a clear strategy for design delivery, helping to clarify our review and approval processes
• Develop, implement, and maintain our operational standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Ensure seamless integration of Design Systems into design team workflows
• Socialize our process proposals to other teams and make our case for change
• Track the impact of our work to help the team evaluate opportunities for continued improvements
• Dictate meeting cadence, thinking strategically about when team meetings, pod meetings, and other correlating meetings should fit in any given week
• Craft and maintain documentation to ensure clarity and consistency in processes to operationalize Product Design and amplify the value of design across the organization
• Develop a curriculum for the ongoing education and development of the team
• Facilitate teammate recognition, special projects (and other projects where there is no natural project owner), as well as monitor the “pulse” of the team
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to product design team members, fostering their professional growth and promoting a culture of learning and innovation
• Stay informed about emerging product design trends, technologies, and methodologies, and share knowledge and expertise with the team

ABOUT YOU 🦄

• You have 5+ years experience as a user experience designer or similar design role with a focus and interest in process definition and operations.
• You are proficient in Figma (We use Figma exclusively at Rocket Money)
• You have a strong understanding of design processes, as well as, the product development lifecycle and product engineering principles
• You have experience working with/coordinating cross-functional research, design, product and engineering teams
• You are collaborative, flexible, and accountable all at once
• You are a communicator who is able to concisely distribute timely cross-functional updates
• You are a leader with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards a shared goal
• You are a systems thinker that advocates for holistic, consistent, and scalable solutions
• You are a self-starter who is always learning and looking for new tools and techniques
• You are a driven problem solver who volunteers to help, educate, and support others
• You have a willingness to be hands on within a fast-paced environment who doesn’t sacrifice quality
• You have a portfolio with case studies featuring design project management and / or design operations work
• You practice empathy, and understand how defined processes and tool will impact the Product Design team and our partners

Additional information: Salary range of $130,000 - $160,000/year + bonus + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
