Design Specialist

Job Description

• Cyient has an opening for an Outside Plant (OSP) Designer, responsible for OSP Fiber, 5G, HFC, and BAU work orders in our various service areas. You will have previous OSP engineering and Field data collection experience. You will have experience designing multiple OSP telecom projects simultaneously, including Pole/Make Ready, FTTH, FTTP, HiCap and BAU projects, and be experienced with client software systems including ICGS/IDDS and PRS. You will also travel to the field to survey and assess current field conditions and meet with the customer as they relate to ongoing OSP designs.

• You Will:
  • Travel to multiple job locations daily to review proposed designs.
  • Take field measurements and photos of utility poles, utility boxes, equipment, cables, proposed equipment cabinets/boxes and street dimensions to adjust or confirm your proposed design elements.
  • Collaborate with the customer to determine equipment locations, scope of work and estimated timelines.
  • Design OSP copper and fiber designs and submit for approval.
  • Walk and work outdoors daily, in different weather conditions.
    You'll Need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree (preferred)
  • Have 2+ years of experience in the Telecommunications Outside plant engineering or construction industry.
  • Have 2+ years of experience with the following design programs ICGS/IDDS and PRS.
  • Have 2+ years of experience of OSP Design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried, BICS) and manhole and conduit designs.
  • Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2), 5G/Smart City high-level designs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city and county) are also desired.
  • Valid driver's license, car insurance, clean driving record and reliable transportation is required.
