Job Description
Summary

Rockwell Automation is looking for an exceptional Product Design Lead to help grow, curate, and federate our design system product, Flourish. Uniquely situated in the Strategic Development business unit, this is a tremendous opportunity to be a connector and influencer for the manifestation of Rockwell Automation's cohesive user experience. If you have a passion for driving consistency backed by research and design while partnering with a variety of teams and programs with a myriad of needs, this challenging role is for you.

The ideal candidate will take a systems-mindset to help drive cohesive, consistent experiences enabled by efficient, common components and patterns across the product portfolio. The ideal candidate should have passion for understanding our end users and design system adopters, be able to conduct and translate user research and usability feedback into innovative and usable components, possess superior design and leadership skills, and be able to communicate design and validation results convincingly.

You will lead user experience design for the design system components, features, and capabilities ensuring they are usable by adopters across a broad range of products and mediums - desktop, web, and mobile. You will join a team that applies user-centered techniques through research, design, and evaluation. You will collaborate with other professionals in user experience, product management, architecture, and development.

What You Will Do
  • Oversee and design common foundations, components, and patterns for the design system to be used across an ecosystem of Rockwell Automation software products
  • Engage with product design and development teams to understand product needs and incorporate into foundations, components, and patterns; help establish product roadmaps for adopting the design system; and help product teams to contribute to the design system
  • Support strategy and vision for adoption and contribution to the design system, including supporting a roadmap of prioritized activities to enable the vision
  • Assist in and apply user research to identify ways to improve usage and value of the design system
  • Evangelize the design system and its benefits to designers, developers, and other stakeholders
  • Clearly present and communicate research, design, and design validation convincingly, both verbally and in writing, to peers and stakeholders
  • Give and receive critical design feedback to improve quality of design
  • Display excellent collaboration skills with an ability to build consensus
  • Keep informed of latest design trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Keep informed of industrial automation trends and competitive software product offerings
  • Learn and understand industrial automation control system concepts


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in interaction/user experience design, cognitive or behavioral science, human factors, computer science or a related field.


Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in interaction/user experience design, cognitive or behavioral science, human factors, computer science or a related field.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in user experience design field including design leadership experience
  • Design experience in highly interactive, sovereign-posture, commercial software applications on desktop, web, or mobile technologies
  • Proficiency using modern design tools such as Axure®, XD®, or Figma®
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Experience in internationalization and cross-cultural design
  • Experience in applying accessibility standards
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable user experience design skills with a strong portfolio of work
  • Exposure using modern research tools like DoveTail®, UserZoom® or Optimal Workshop®
  • Experience with globally distributed teams
  • Experience in industrial automation domain
