Position: Design Technologist

Job Description:

• Design technologists are designers with front-end development skills.
• They tackle front-end programming, design, and UX all at the same time.
• They care about the integrity of a product's code and the quality of its look and feel.
• Through testing and research, they make sure everything works together.
• A design technologist's tool kit includes accessibility standards, responsive web design, site performance best practices, internationalization and localization techniques, native app development, core UI development, and modern front-end frameworks.
• A sensibility for the user journey and interaction design rounds things out.
• They can jump in at any design phase: wireframes, click-throughs, mocks, and prototypes at all levels of fidelity.

Additional Qualifications:

• Knowledge of design system practices to include token creation and management, applying systematic theming, and creation/management of design/development documentation for end users.
• Mastery of web development fundamentals.
• Track record of building and working with responsive, dynamic web pages.
• An eye and passion for crafting world-class web experiences.
• Fluency in React, Angular, HTML, CSS, JSON, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with modern technologies including Flexbox and CSS animations.
• Strong proficiency with version control systems, including Git.
• Expert-level experience with Web Components format and Angular or React web frameworks.
• Algorithmic thinking and programming knowledge with at least one major programming language (Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Go , C++, etc.)
• GitHub, CodePen, or other links showcasing your skills, or a UI/UX portfolio is required.
• Fluency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Invision, etc.).
• Deep understanding of how to create usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale to millions of users.
• Ability to think outside the box and devise creative workarounds to technical challenges or limitations.
• Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid-growth environment.
• Experience & comfort prototyping and quickly iterating with a focus on the end user experience.
• Knowledge of reviewing and applying accessibility best practices to solutions.
• Passionately advocate for the user.
• Comfortable with agile transformation.
• A positive attitude, open mind, and desire to collaborate and learn.
