UFP Site Built is the leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non-wood products for the construction industry. We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and light gauge steel structural components.We are currently hiring for an Entry Level Designers/Estimators. These positions could potentially office out of any of the 3 locations listed below and would be responsible for learning how to design roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels, and/or engineered wood products (EWP) for residential and commercial applications.

Ideal candidates must be willing to train initially in Burlington, North Carolina for our January 2025 Design Trainee Class for 4-6 weeks (company will cover all costs - training is paid). Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare bids, layouts and engineered profiles using MiTek software
• Design components as directed by management
• Work with sales force to ensure that customers’ requirements are met
• Maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees
• Assist in training and development of other designers (as required)
• Work closely with retail clients, builders, framers and developers to answer design questions and offer design solutions
• Grow and maintain strong customer relationships
• Place orders within our productions system
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Drafting, CAD, construction, or framing background highly preferred
• Complete the Technical Training Program and successfully pass an assessment test
• Demonstrate the ability to read and understand blueprints
• Demonstrate mathematical skills required to calculate concentrated and uniform loads
• Working knowledge of floor and roof systems and the ability to spec out beams and hangers
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meeting deadlines
• Ability to sit at a desk for long amounts of time
• Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
• Good people skills with strong customer service attitude and proper phone etiquette
