Job summary:
Cincinnati Fan, an SPX company, is looking for a Mechanical Designer with a minimum of 5 years' design and detailing experience. Preferably design experience with fans, air movement, project work or HVAC. This position will create, edit, and update sales and production drawings for new products and custom orders. The design position will provide technical support and expertise to our production team as well as our sales and application team. The designer will work closely with our engineering team to support our department initiatives.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Able to design and draft 2D and 3D drawings.
- Create and review part numbers and bill of materials.
- Reviews engineering specifications and drawings to determine critical dimensions and orientations for design.
- Confers with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications.
- Create and review detailed layout drawings and review design alternatives in collaboration with manufacturing.
- Analyze product or equipment specifications as well as performance requirements to determine if designs can be produced by manufacturing facilities.
- Provide suggestions on product improvements through redesign ideas or feedback.
- Actively participates in any individual or assigned training sessions to improve skills and job knowledge.
- Shares best practices and techniques with peers to enhance the skills of others.
- Assist with customer needs and handle opportunities with a sense of urgency.
- Follow and adhere to prescribed safety regulations in the manufacturing environment.
- Performs all other related duties as required or directed.
Qualifications and skills:
- Education: Minimum of an Associates of Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years CAD experience in the air pollution control or HVAC field desired.
- Prior experience with sheet metal/fabricated products is desired.
- Knowledge of materials and applications required.
- AutoCAD 2D CAD software experience desired.
- INVENTOR 3D or any related 3D modeling experience.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) not required, but a plus.
- Troubleshooting skills are a plus.
Work Environment:
Our engineering staff works in a pleasant, fast-paced office environment with tight deadlines in preparing designs and drawings for our customers.
Physical Demands:
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit in front of a computer workstation, but also stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and listen to instructions. Employee will occasionally lift and move up objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Company-provided safety glasses must be worn when in our production facility. Also, steel-toed shoes must be worn if you are required to be in the production area and outside of the yellow safety lines.
