We are currently seeking a Designer to join our rapidly expanding Environmental Experience team in the New York studio. In this role, you will work under the direction of a Creative Director to contribute to design strategy, concepts and the production of presentation materials for various branded environments (physical spaces). Projects vary from corporate workplaces and exhibits to commercial and service-oriented spaces. Designers bring energy and creativity to the design process, create enticing visualizations, and assist in the development well-rounded final deliverables. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in interior, experiential or architectural design and a passion for translating brand to environments and experiences.
In this role, you can expect:
- Contribute to designing unique and innovative design and experiential concepts that align to branding principles and criteria
- Assist in the production of presentation materials (often formatted in PPT)
- Participate in internal creative reviews, workshops, and client presentations
- Contribute to the development of design intent documentation (2D and 3D drawings and visualizations, high level descriptions and specifications) and guidelines
- Specify materials and finishes, furniture, fixtures, lighting, and dΓ©cor elements
- Aide in the adaptation of conceptual work to real world sites/locations
- Keep on top of the latest design trends across the industry
- Work collaboratively with the other designers, strategists, and client experience leads
- Start to develop skills required to professionally manage contractors and vendors
- Work across multiple projects as needed
Our ideal candidate:
- 1+ years of previous agency or design firm experience (including internships)
- Strong design portfolio featuring interior and experiential projects
- A bachelor's degree in interior design, experiential design, or architecture preferred
- Design software skills (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, AutoCAD)
- Must have ability to independently create rendered 3D visualizations using SketchUp
- Working knowledge of materials and finishes, furniture, and lighting
- Writing skills to produce descriptions of concepts and guideline content are a plus
- Exposure to design-thinking methodology, human-centric design, or experience design is a plus
- Environmental graphic design skills are a plus
- Self-starter who can work independently and is organized
- Some travel required (< 20%)
Salary: $50,000 - 65,000. Final salary will be determined based on seniority, merit, geographic location, education, training and experience, and may vary from the amount listed above.
