Desktop Administrator

3Red Partners, a proprietary trading firm headquartered in Chicago, is seeking a Desktop Administrator to join the team. Our team has extensive, global experience in a wide variety of asset classes, risk management, and leading trading technologies. We focus our efforts on hiring extremely talented and motivated individuals to collaborate with each other and be on the forefront of leveraging technology and math to implement sophisticated trading strategies.

The Desktop Administrator will work in our Chicago office alongside other technologists and will be responsible for the day to day user support and the ongoing maintenance of 3Red’s computer systems and network. At 3Red, you will be tasked with building flexible and innovative solutions while ensuring reliability in a dynamic global trading environment.

Your impact:

• Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including Linux and Windows servers, laptops, Apple MAC laptops, security tools and applications
• Handle physical setup and install of hardware and provide user and desktop support
• Install new software and hardware drivers and update existing ones on an as needed basis
• Diagnose and repair hardware, operating system, and software issues; deploy patches and updates on Windows desktops and servers
• Perform Windows and Active Directory administration tasks, including user/group administration, group policies, and network install and patch management, security permissions on files and users
• Create and maintain documentation of systems processes, automate tasks, and recommend new hardware and software solutions to explore new technologies to streamline user experience
• Maintain inventory for all hardware and resolve IT support requests from employees relating to Windows, MAC OS and Linux operating systems

Your skills:

• A Bachelors or Master’s degree with 0 - 2 years of experience or equivalent training
• Strong attention to detail and communication/customer service skills with the ability to identify problems and work proactively to resolve issues
• Familiarity with virtualization is a plus along with an understanding of networking concepts, configuration management, and source control
