Desktop Engineer, Senior
Job Description
This role provides consulting services to application development teams and/or customers regarding technologies and the application of specific technology standards. Disciplines for this job description include: Supporting Windows desktops, laptop and tablets, iOS devices, thin clients, Chrome devices, printers, scanners, computer carts, audio/video/conferencing devices and applications, operating system and hardware troubleshooting, system based monitoring utilizing respective enterprise level monitoring tools, Active Directory group policy and security troubleshooting, system imaging utilizing enterprise level tools, network and telecommunications tier-1 and tier-2 level troubleshooting, and mentorship of junior level desktop engineering staff. Some level of purchasing, fiscal responsibility and oversight of system and equipment store levels may be assigned.
Senior Desktop Engineers can be stationed within a hospital, project, or dedicated to the field. The person in this position provides "smart hands" at clinics and facilities to assist other operational IS teams (Telecom, Network, Platforms, Infrastructure, etc.).
At any time, a Senior Desktop Engineer may be dedicated to supporting Cook clinics well outside the DFW area. Extensive day and/or night travel, making and holding to schedules, and ensuring there is proper and sufficient IS equipment on hand are key requirements. Communication and coordination with the Desktop Team at Fort Worth is critical to balance equipment levels across storage locations, arrange shipping as needed, and to maintain team awareness regarding issues observed and solutions found.
All Senior Desktop Engineers are highly collaborative with customers and other IS teams to ensure we as an Information Services team are able to resolve incidents and complete all requests as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED and 5 years equivalent experience in an enterprise environment or Associate's degree in computer, IS, mathematics, technical or scientific field with 4 years equivalent experience in an enterprise environment.
- Active listening, empathy, patience Ability to present technical information to non-technical audience.
- Ability to present to a larger, more formal audience including PowerPoint development Negotiation and minor conflict resolution.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
- A+, Network+, Microsoft Windows MCP preferred
