This person will be responsible for troubleshooting department computer network systems; installing software packages and system upgrades; and providing in-house training to department personnel on systems and software use; and performs related work as required.

Job Description

JOB DUTIES:

  • This is the advanced level Desktop Support position. This person may function as a lead or senior worker and will be responsible for overseeing the work assignments of other information technology professionals or have regular assignments which have been recognized by IT management as having significantly greater complexity than those assigned at the experienced level
  • Assists with systems administration as directed by or under supervision
  • Installs and maintains computer hardware components: implements and administers computer operating software
  • Provide help-desk and technical support to workers
  • Enhances current systems as authorized when upgrades become available and according to system requirements
  • Provides network system support to users within department and outlying departments.
  • Monitors hardware and software utilization: maintains inventory of computer hardware and software, telephone system, and provides in- house training personnel on system and general software use
  • Maintains current procedure manuals for system users
  • Provides technical assistance in preparation of various reports and maintenance of system documentation: recommends hardware and software replacement and/or upgrades as needed
  • Maintains knowledge of current technology; assists user departments in defining their computer and software-related needs
  • May support other computerization activities within the organization as needed
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 years' experience in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have experience supporting end user base of 500+ employees
  • Working knowledge in:
    • Personal computer technology;
    • Computer equipment;
    • Application software and personal computer operating systems;
    • Windows and general word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Working knowledge in:
    • Installing and maintaining PC hardware and software, telephones, wireless systems, and website.
  • Considerable skill in:
    • Communicating with technical and non-technical individuals concerning computer systems and software issues
  • Working Skill in:
    • Designing and preparing various reports as required
    • Planning, organizing, and prioritizing assigned projects
    • Establishing time schedules
    • This position is a hourly position.
