Summary of Position:
In this role, Desktop Support Specialist will support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all desktop equipment, peripherals, and office technology while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, or remotely) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for end user requests, providing Level I & II system support.
- Provide end-user support for computers running Windows 10 and MacOS.
- Setup, configure, and deliver workstations and peripherals to end users in both office and laboratory environments.
- Configure and maintain PC and laptop images for company wide distribution.
- Provide desktop application support and problem resolution for business and lab system applications.
- Perform routine moves and changes.
- Perform software and hardware installations and upgrades as needed.
- Document, track, and handle helpdesk calls and/or escalate problems when necessary.
- Assist with monthly maintenance tasks on lab workstations and ensures critical data is being backed up and/or synchronized to network resources.
- Troubleshoot print, copy, and scanner issues, escalating calls to support vendors when necessary.
- Place orders as needed and maintain hardware and software inventories.
- Train employees on technology including Zoom, Teams, Microsoft Office, laptops, tablets, core productivity software, and other hardware/software platforms
- Build trusted relationships internally and externally.
- Occasionally performing system maintenance and providing technical support after typical business hours in order to maintain system availability and to achieve schedule demands.
- Experience in streamlining user device support functions.
- Strong analysis capabilities and skills in structured problem solving.

- Deep sense of urgency and ability to identify and achieve quick wins.
- Ability to quickly learn new subject matter areas and drive towards operational excellence.
- Strong communications and collaboration skills.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years prior experience in End User Services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with executive staff under high pressure situations.
- 1+ years supporting Executives or VIPs.
- Some knowledge of enterprise applications, tools and operating systems, including: Windows, MacOS, MS Office, Mobile device tools, Azure AD, MS Endpoint Manager, SSO/MFA, MS Teams, Zoom, IOS/Android, file sync and share tools, etc.
- Required knowledge of IT service desk tools and best practices like ITIL.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred – Information Systems or related field.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds and be mobile (walking, crawling under desks, climbing a ladder, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodation
- Able to be on-site minimum of 4 days a week
