Our passion is storytelling games! Deck Nine Games is an independent game developer dedicated to crafting AAA interactive story games that inspire, transform, and entertain players. In 2021 we released Life is Strange True Colors, which went on to win multiple awards for storytelling and visuals, including best storytelling for 2021 and a VGA for Games for Impact. Recently we announced that we are developing a game for the hit sci-fi Amazon series, The Expanse. Our prior titles have won multiple awards, including Game of the Year and nominations for VGA and BAFTA awards. The studio is 100+ amazing people both located in our headquarters in sunny Westminster, Colorado and spread throughout the world permanently remote.

With the Human Resources Manager, the Development and Training Specialist plans, develops, implements, and administers development and training programs. The DTS also acts as liaison and advisor to the organization's leadership and facilitates initiatives across the organization.
This is a new position for Deck Nine Games and be a member of a small but mighty HR Team! This position will help drive company values and philosophy through training and content development activities by working closely with the leadership team to identify and address employee and organizational development needs. The person who fills this role will help design training and development programming for all employees (for example compliance), programming for leaders and emerging leaders, and then deliver the created content. The work itself will be both collaborative and independent, working with leadership, game team members and HR. This position is responsible for ensuring company values and philosophy are adhered to through training and development activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, employees, and leadership.
- Measures the effectiveness of training programs, using data to make informed decisions on programming needs/changes/updates and to ensure a return on investment.
- Collaborate with the Talent Management Coordinator to create, organize, plan, and present onboarding and orientation for new employees.
- Assist the HR Manager in the creation and presentation of compliance based training, to include topics such as discrimination, harassment, diversity, equity and inclusion, etc.
- Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development, through memberships to leading groups, attending relevant conferences, and networking.
- Designs, develops, and delivers a management and talent development program to build effective leadership skills and promote company culture and values.
- Develops self-paced eLearning and instructor-led training (both in-person and virtual}.
- Creates and maintains training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
- Delivers training and development programs using various formats, including group discussion, lecture, and simulations. This includes in-person and virtual delivery systems.
- Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, assessments, and retraining requirements.
- Prepares and implements training budget; maintains records and reports of expenses.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to create and maintain professional relationships with all types of employees.
- Excellent organizational, operational, and process/project management skills.
- Able to create and manage content and curriculum.
- Experience with multiple learning formats, including in-person and eLearning.
- Public Speaking and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data to identify areas of improvement.
- Develop compelling and diverse recommendations on types, modes, and content for programming or individual training opportunities.
- Knowledge of current Learning and Development best practices.
- Ability to stay up to date with Learning and Development trends, best practices, and integrating them when appropriate.
- Ability to create training content in different modalities.
- Strong wiring, editing, and presentation skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design or equivalent year to year work experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in Training, Leadership Development, Organization Development, or related field.
Extra Credit
- Experience with video game development process.
- Worked in a video game studio as a in a learning development or training position, with proven leadership skills.
Salary Range: $57,000 - $65,000
This compensation range represents its good faith estimate of what Deck Nine Games may pay for the position at the time of posting, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications, experience, and available market information, but not based on candidates protected class(es).
