Development Assistant

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI) is seeking a Development Assistant to support the daily operations of the development team by providing administrative support across all fundraising programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all tasks associated with producing donor acknowledgement letters and tax receipts as well as membership acknowledgements and renewals; membership benefit fulfillment; member/donor event registration; and corporate sponsorship benefit fulfillment (via CRM)
- Provide administrative support, schedule meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage the membership and gift entry process including entering membership payments and gifts into the CRM.
- Enter contact reports for executive director, development director, and other key personnel with donor portfolios into database, tracking and reporting on donor and prospect engagement.
- Provide fundraising and membership event support as needed.
- Follow all written procedures and workflows and ensure data hygiene and appropriate coding by conducting quality audits.
- Run weekly/monthly/quarterly fundraising and membership tracking reports, distributing as assigned, and provide data and documentation to Finance as requested.
- Conduct donor, funder, and sponsorship prospecting as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks, meeting deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication, editing skills is a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information with absolute discretion.
- Curious, creative, and self-motivated.
- A high level of computer proficiency with knowledge of and experience with fundraising technology (such as CRM and wealth screening programs) and intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1+ year of relevant work experience in a nonprofit fundraising office with hands-on knowledge of fundraising practices.

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Able to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standard situations.

The position is office/art gallery based and noise level usually moderate. May occasionally work inside or outside at events where noise level could be moderate to loud.
Hours of work include daytime hours Monday – Friday and occasionally Saturday, Sunday, and/or evening hours to meet staffing and/or event needs.
