Development Engineer 2
Job Description
This position is a fixed term engineering position, for 3 years from date of hire (full benefits package included) is responsible for design, development, verification, and validation of legacy products throughout the product life cycle. These activities are governed by S&N Sports Medicine Quality System. This position includes exposure to the broad range of products within the Sports Medicine franchise. This role is funded for a specific project intended to last 3+ years, and the employee who fills this position will be eligible for consideration for other internal roles.
Responsibilities:
- Product design, verification/validation testing. Create and maintain design control related documentation such as risk and usability assessments, user needs, design inputs, etc. Align with requirements of design controls and other regulatory bodies. Maintain the design of products in conjunction with the manufacturing engineering/external supplier groups to deliver a design that is manufacturable.
- Will meet with customers (sales, marketing, surgeons) to observe surgery and build understanding of clinical use and user needs.
- Provides testing protocols/reports, fixturing, and samples to support required testing. Develops and validates biomechanical and mechanical test methodologies to evaluate sports medicine repair devices both in development and currently on the market.
- Serves as authority on design intent for legacy product lines
Location:

Education:
- BS in engineering/science/related field
Experience:
- 2+ years CAD (SolidWorks preferred), Document Control Systems, Design Control, GD&T, Mechanical design, Statistics

- Is an integral part of the project team. Develops multi-functional relationships outside to influence project outputs. Works on problems with growing complexity and impact. Uses existing procedures to develop possible solutions.
Physical Demands:
- General office Demands - large percentage of time performing computer-based work; close vision (clear at 20 inches or less) required to review documents and operate computers, sitting for long periods of time

- 10-25%
