Description
This position will support the Execution Project Manager through the development, implementation and turnover phases of construction projects in the renewable and gas industries. The role will include various activities related to project development, risk management, budget and schedule. Additionally, the position supports the project development strategy of taking early and mid-stage development projects and supporting through them successful turnover into long term operating assets within target regions.

Description
This position will support the Execution Project Manager through the development, implementation and turnover phases of construction projects in the renewable and gas industries. The role will include various activities related to project development, risk management, budget and schedule. Additionally, the position supports the project development strategy of taking early and mid-stage development projects and supporting through them successful turnover into long term operating assets within target regions.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the construction of greenfield self-developed projects or projects that may be acquired as part of single project acquisition or a portfolio of projects or sites
- Management of due diligence, administering EPC contracts, contributing to business case development and negotiating contracts for self-developed and acquisition opportunities of, wind, solar, gas and BESS projects
- Supports diligence around contract negotiations of major service agreements (examples: Balance of Plant (BOP) agreement, Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA), etc) alongside the Project Services group to ensure proper risk mitigation among contract agreements
- Manage the overall budget, scope, quality and schedule to deliver projects on-time and on-budget
- Leverage subject matter experts (internal and/or external) to ensure all construction tasks are completed accurately and timely (including regulatory, siting, transmission, operations, etc)
- Ensure plant performance meets contract requirements, lead the closeout of punchlist activities and finalize all documentation requirements to ensure a successful transition of assets to SPC Operations.
Education
- A four-year degree is required with a preference for an engineering, finance, economics or accounting (or equivalent) discipline; An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in the power and / or renewable energy industry is highly desired. Additional experience in utility grade construction and contract negotiations is a plus but aptitude and attitude is of primary importance.
- Experience in evaluation/ due diligence, and implementation of solar, wind or gas-fired projects is desired.
- Experience in, and/or interacting with the following disciplines: engineering & construction, business development, project development, operations & maintenance, finance, accounting, procurement, environmental compliance, permitting, and transmission, is desired.
- Possess a broad range of industry experience from: project management, project controls, power plant operations & maintenance, plant design, plant construction, finance, procurement, environmental regulations and compliance, transmission, system planning
- Thorough understanding of basic construction concepts, project schedules concepts such as milestones, float, predecessor, successor, and risk mitigation concepts such as contingency.
- Project management skills are required. These skills include the ability to work across multiple organizations, lead a team toward a common objective, resolve problems and demonstrate clear, effective communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively
- Has a strong network of internal and external contacts (vendors, technical societies, etc)
- Self-starter that works with a sense of urgency; works well in a team environment; maintains a positive attitude despite constantly changing priorities.
