Development Lead - TCP/IP

Introduction
The IBM mainframe (Z Systems) is responsible for most credit card transactions and is used by the many of the top insurers banks retailers and airlines.
IBM z/VM® is an operating system with highly secure and scalable hypervisor and virtualization technology designed to run Linux® z/OS® z/VSE® and z/TPF virtual machines as well as Red Hat® OpenShift® on IBM zSystems™ and IBM LinuxONE servers. z/VM provides a highly secure and scalable environment for efficiently running critical Linux applications with support for more Linux virtual servers than any other platform in a single footprint.
The z/VM team is a worldwide team primarily located in Poughkeepsie NY with expansion plans in Bangalore India. All phases of the software life cycle are performed within this team including the design development test performance as well as supporting the product in the field with customers. Agile methodologies are used throughout the life cycle.
We are looking for qualified software engineer candidates to be part of our IBM Z Systems team to help us take z/VM virtualization to the next level on the mainframe.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Associate with Product Manager Chief Product owner and other engineering teams in deciphering the customer requirements/ problems into to product requirements and developing High level design for z/VM.
• As a technical leader of the team – act as the technical liaison representing the component areas location and work with geographically distributed engineering team.
• As a development lead – guide Mentor & Coach junior members in the team to achieve desired results/objects to accelerate product delivery.
• Being a technical leader work closely with Management team in bring the Quality and continuous improvement and assist in the hiring activities.
• Participate as a key member on architecture related discussions to ensure technology decisions are aligning to the business/team needs.
• 6.Identify the skills needs/gaps for the team and collaborate with management in developing expertise for the team.
• Translate Technical specification or customer requirements – Ensures all design decisions are evaluated analytically and in a systematic manner in accordance with approved processes and procedures.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Required Technical and Professional Expertise with relevant experience of 10-15 years:

• 10 – 15 years of industrial experience in working with Unix/Linux based products developed using C or C++ programming language.
• Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in leading development or support teams troubleshooting to resolve issues.
• Extensive development/support experience in working with various network protocols (Layer 2 – Layer5) and devices (routers switches firewalls load balancers VPN QoS).
• Must have knowledge of virtualisation Operating systems internals and Hypervisor (kVM z/VM Hyper-V)
• Expertise in Translate Technical specification or customer requirements Preparing of HLD/LLD and Working closely with Team members in translating the Specifications /design into product deliverables.
• Good understanding of Enterprise servers firmware patches hotfixes and security configurations.
• Proven operational experience in network operations including incident change and problem management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate product architectures design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
• Experience in working with global teams/partner labs.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Solid understanding of systems hardware & architecture
• Good understanding operating systems internals/Kernel (Process Management Memory Management Virtualization Scheduling I/O (Networking & Storage) Security etc.)
• Familiar with program implementation with either of ASSEMBLY PLX REXX.
