Job Description

Team: Project Management

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Development Manager – Communications in Canada. The role is with Jane App.

This is a high-impact leadership role focused on building and scaling AI-powered communication experiences that directly improve how healthcare clinics interact with their patients. You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team working on early-stage, experimental products, including AI-driven reception and messaging systems. The role blends hands-on technical contribution with people leadership, requiring you to actively shape architecture, guide implementation, and support engineers in delivering high-quality, customer-focused solutions. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and AI specialists to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new ideas in a fast-moving environment. A strong emphasis is placed on learning from real customer feedback, especially through live pilots and real-world usage. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys zero-to-one product development, and is motivated by building impactful healthcare technology.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development of AI-powered communication products, ensuring they deliver meaningful value to clinics and end users through fast iteration and thoughtful execution.
  • Act as a player-coach, contributing directly to technical design and implementation while supporting team alignment, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and AI teams to translate early concepts into functional, scalable customer-facing features.
  • Establish and maintain strong feedback loops with customers by participating in pilots and analyzing real-world product performance.
  • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, technical guidance, and architectural input in a rapidly evolving product space.
  • Foster a high-trust, collaborative team culture that encourages curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Requirements:

    • Proven experience leading engineering teams as a Development Manager, Engineering Manager, or equivalent leadership role.
    • Strong track record in people leadership, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and developing senior engineers.
    • Hands-on technical background with the ability to actively contribute to product development and technical decision-making.
    • Experience building and shipping customer-facing software in fast-paced or high-growth environments.
    • Familiarity with AI-powered products, conversational AI, or foundation-model-based systems in production environments.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead through influence and collaboration.
    • Comfort operating in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments with evolving priorities and rapid experimentation.
    • Benefits:

      • Annual salary range of $158,400 to $247,500 CAD, with structured growth based on experience and impact.
      • Comprehensive benefits package supporting health, wellness, and overall well-being.
      • Remote-first work environment across Canada, the US, and the UK.
      • Strong culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
      • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI-driven healthcare communication products with real-world impact.
      • Transparent compensation philosophy focused on career growth and fair pay progression.
      • Inclusive and mission-driven environment focused on improving healthcare experiences for clinics and patients.
