Development Operations Engineer

The Chronicle is seeking a Development Operations Engineer to join its Engineering Team. This is a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days in our Washington DC office.

What you'll do:
- Maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of infrastructure and systems.
- Support the design of cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available.
- Work collaboratively with software engineering to define strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
- Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
- Develop scripts for reporting and other tasks.
- Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
- Use best practices to provide highly available, fault tolerant, scalable, and secure deployments.
- Be the bridge between the developer and cloud environments.
- Work closely with project leaders to meet deadlines and coordinate releases.
- Assist in supporting and managing continuous integration pipelines.
- Participate in on-call and 24/7 support teams to identify and solve mission critical problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical (STEM) field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-2 years of experience building and maintaining infrastructure
- 1 year of scripting experience in any language
- Good background in Linux/Unix administration
- Proficiency with MySQL or other database technologies
- Basic understanding of cloud security and how to meet compliance requirements
- Basic understanding of automated software deployments
