The Development Scientist for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics works as part of a team responsible for new product development for Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay in-vitro diagnostic systems.

This position is part of the R&D Hardware Development department located in Brea, CA and will be hybrid with respect to on-site/remote work. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Systems Integration group and report to the Manager, Development Science responsible for the integration, verification, and validation of new and/or improved hardware and software features for Beckman Coulter's Clinical Chemistry and Immunochemistry Diagnostic Systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the development and testing of new and/or improved diagnostic systems compliant with the procedures and documentation requirements of FDA, ISO, and other regulated bodies.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to identify issues and investigate to root cause.
  • Participate in process improvement, design change or current product support projects.
  • Support technologies post-launch to resolve performance and/or quality issues.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • B.S. degree in Biology or Biotechnology with 0 - 2 years industry laboratory experience.
  • Good laboratory technique with some analytical expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and execute experimental protocols, analyzes data, summarize results, report status of experiments, and write associated reports.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software failures; possess mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Operation of automated General Chemistry and/or Immunochemistry diagnostic systems.

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
