The Development Scientist 1 for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for performing tests within the Development Science organization as well as presenting the results of those tests to key project team members. The Development Scientist 1 will have knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques (including subculturing, aseptic laboratory technique, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing), how to write and summarize test protocols, and the ability to work on smaller projects that support the broader Development Science organization.
This position is part of the Microbiology R&D team located in West Sacramento and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
You will be a part of the Development Science team and report to the Manager, Development Science responsible for assay development (feasibility through commercialization) for new antimicrobials and reformulating legacy antimicrobials. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Write and execute test protocols for a new antimicrobial, a reformulation of an existing antimicrobial, or for a new product.
- Work within a cross-functional team to discuss the results of lab testing and propose next steps.
- Work on independent, continuous improvement projects.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or related fields.
- 0 - 2+ years of experience in the field, preferably in a microbiology/chemistry lab
- Aseptic lab technique, pipetting, and working in a GLP (good laboratory practices) environment
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Medical device testing experience
The the hourly range for this role is $34 - $37. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
