ABOUT THE ROLE
The Development Specialist is responsible for siting and supporting the Development team on overall management of all project development tasks, including site due diligence, land research, and permitting. You will have the opportunity to learn the renewable energy industry in a uniquely intimate way compared to other roles across the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Support the Development Managers by conducting market research and Internal Review/Fatal Flaw Analysis for potential project sites.
- Assist in gathering Topography, FWS, FEMA, useable acreage, and parcel ownership, QA/QC parcel prior to mailing, and maintaining Google Earth File for Land Managers.
- Gather utility planning documents, generator interconnection queues, planned transmission lines, and other market policies and trends to identify advantageous markets in which to develop.
- Analyze rules, rates, and availability of BLM Land, State Trust Lands, and state industrial/economic development certified sites for future development.
- Review PUC dockets for how states implement PURPA, and discover new PURPA opportunities based on state regulations, avoided cost, solar resource, service areas, Utility-specific circumstances.
- Assist Project Finance in the beginning stages of financial modeling, including researching current property taxes, interconnection costs, land acquisition costs, etc.
- Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
- Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, business, finance, economics, or related field.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
- Skills/Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data and situations to make decisions.
- High-degree of self-motivation with the ability to effectively solve problems with little direction.
