Device Engineering Intern (Firmware)

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Alarm.com is seeking a passionate and talented embedded firmware engineer intern to join our device engineering team. The position is ideal for candidates who want to join an interdisciplinary team building cutting-edge connected IoT devices and smart sensors for home automation and security applications. Our team works with a variety of next-generation technologies integrating low-power design, cellular networks, local wireless networks, sensors, and signal processing. This is an ideal role for someone interested in microcontrollers, embedded software, and hardware/software integration and this hands-on role bridges the gap between software and the physical world.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Design, develop, and test embedded software in C
• Build robust and scalable firmware infrastructure
• Build new products to expand the Alarm.com connected device ecosystem
• Uphold and contribute to our software engineering best practices
• Collaborate with other Firmware Engineers, Software Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Product Managers

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering
• Experience with software development using the C programming language
• Self-starter, analytical, tenacious problem solver
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Rigorous attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability, and quality
• Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high quality consumer technology products
