DevOps Cloud Engineer (local, hybrid)

Heuristic Solutions is seeking an exceptionally bright, organized, articulate and growth-minded cloud engineer to join our LearningBuilder Technical Operations team.

In this role you will be a member of the Technical Operations team and will report to the Director of Technical Operations. The Technical Operations team oversees our cloud and on-premise infrastructure and is responsible for building the platform to support large-scale growth. You will contribute monitoring and supporting the current infrastructure, as well as building out the next generation of our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with automation, software design and implementation for platform management, and configuration of cloud infrastructure for large scale operations. You must be able to work well with others as well as alone.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring
• Monitor the health of the infrastructure, including status of automations, server utilization, application performance and errors, etc.
• Review security scan results and determine which are actionable
• Perform security audits
• Monitor cost of cloud infrastructure
• Participate in on-call rotation in the event that we have an after hours incident
• Support & Incident Response
• Support staff with questions or issues with platform tooling
• Troubleshoot failures in the infrastructure
• Handle escalations from customer support and engineering teams
• Cloud Engineering
• Write Terraform code to manage changes to the AWS infrastructure
• Implement changes to: Servers, S3 storage retention policies, Security Groups, Security Policies, etc
• Manage SSL certificates: csr's, renewals, reissues, installation
• Build new automations on servers and in AWS using lambdas
• Contribute to the design of new features in the platform
• Automate deployment and configuration management processes using tools like Bitbucket Pipelines, Packer, and Terraform
• Refine and improve monitoring tools

Location: This position is located in our Arlington VA office. For the first 90 days, you will be in office, after which you may transition to a hybrid.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in a related position
• Experience configuring Microsoft components: Windows server, SQL Server, Active Directory
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies
• Experience with AWS: S3, EC2, SQS, DynamoDB, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC's
• Strong scripting skills in languages like Ruby, PowerShell, and Python
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools like CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, and Git
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability and willingness to follow established processes
