DevOps Engineer

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for planning, design, configuration, automation and implementation of data analytics and development solutions in secure cloud, containerized environments.

Position Summary

TRSS is a small (~300 person), dynamic, technology-heavy, security-focused environment where members of the IT team make contributions in a variety of areas. All team members perform helpdesk support for onsite and remote employees, help maintain various network systems, and contribute to the implementation of new systems. After-hours support and system maintenance are required at times. This position will primarily support infrastructure and application automation initiatives, CI/CD pipeline creation and management, and collaborating with developers, IT operations, and security.

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, harden, document, administer, and troubleshoot containerized applications and container orchestration platforms.

• Establish, monitor, and maintain secure configuration baselines for container images
• Administer and interface with internal services such as DNS, Active Directory, Certificate authorities, and load balancers
• Configure, monitor, update, and troubleshoot on-premise and cloud-based Linux applications
• Work well both independently and with teammates from multiple departments
• Communicate well with users and teammates

• Research solutions to problems and document solutions
• Perform after-hours maintenance and support as needed
• Stay up to date on the latest best practices and security benchmarks for relevant infrastructure

Required Skills

• Strong Linux background
• Experience with container orchestration platforms (such as Kubernetes) and container engines and runtimes (such as Docker)
• Experience with automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Experience troubleshooting multi-layered technical problems relating to DNS, certificates, and authentication/authorization issues
• Experience deploying web applications in an enterprise/production environment

• Experience with AWS and familiarity with common AWS service offerings
• CI/CD experience (such as GitHub/Jenkins)
• Able to handle tickets and create easy to follow documentation
• Able to follow documented procedures with attention to detail
• Able to manage time and resources to deliver on projects

• Bachelor's degree in computer-related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of three years IT-related experience
• Excellent customer service and communication skills

Bonus Skills

• Strong security background including endpoint and network firewalls, antimalware software, security baselines (STIG, CIS, etc.), application allow-listing
• VMware vSphere virtualization suite
• Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory
