DevOps Engineer

Vicarious Surgical is hiring a talented DevOps Engineer to join our team. This is an incredible and rare opportunity to help build development infrastructure nearly from the ground up at a medical device company with a breakthrough surgical robot, and to get involved in the intersection of robotics and AI.  

Working from our Waltham, MA headquarters, you will help set up and manage our local and remote servers, which run critical services that are crucial to the team’s success, you will work closely with the robotic software, firmware, VR and AI developers, and you will identify software needs and issues experienced by our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize our build system, documentation system, and code repositories to ensure efficient and reliable software development workflows.
• Collaborate with developers to collect feedback and implement changes to improve the performance and functionality of our software services.
• Analyze operational build data, identify and resolve issues in coordination with development teams to ensure smooth software development workflows.
• Improve the workflow of non-developers by leveraging software tools to streamline their processes, enhancing their productivity and efficiency.
• Coordinate and execute our software build and release schedule, ensuring timely and smooth deployments of new features and bug fixes.
• Stay up-to-date with best practices and security concerns in software build and release processes, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and security.
• Document our CI/CD process for accreditation purposes, creating clear and comprehensive documentation to support compliance requirements.

About You

• 2 + years of DevOps experience, or System Admin and coding experience
• Experience with CI/CD infrastructure automation tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI
• Working knowledge of Linux environments, including Ubuntu and Debian
• Familiarity with C/C++ and corresponding build systems like gcc, CMake, or Conan
• Experience with automated configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Experience working with Docker image generation and containerization
• Experience using git version control software
• Ability to work with hardware such as Servers, PCBAs, and Development Boards
• Strong scripting and debugging skills using shell scripts and Python
