As a DevOps Engineer at Octo you will join a Senior Agile team within the CTO organization responsible for leading advanced software engineering using containerization tools on modern cloud platforms. You will be comfortable working side by side with other engineers product managers designers and clients making decisions together to quickly deliver valuable working software to clients and their users. You have a passion for high-quality reliable and maintainable code. You are agile and retrospective and not afraid to identify what we are doing wrong so we can fix it and what we are doing right so we can improve on it.

Program Mission…

You will be working on a high-profile DevSecOps engineering program for the Octo CTO office building new automated DevSecOps and Enterprise solutions for federal customers. The program uses an advanced set of Digital Software Supply Chain tools created by Octo called Shift-Up to develop a unique Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps as a Service capability.

Years of Experience :

• 10+ years’ experience with 3 years working in an Agile environment implementing solutions based on cloud native frameworks.
• At least 5+ years of direct container technology related experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Location : Remote periodic travel to Reston and client site

Security Clearance: US Citizen and ability to obtain government security clearance; Active Secret clearance or higher is preferred.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Design develop and engineer application software solutions advanced container technologies especially around Kubernetes and K8S tools.
• Experienced with building and developing RESTful web services
• Deliver high quality code by employing industry best practices such as TDD Pair Programming and peer reviews
• Ensure high quality code by creating and maintaining a high percentage of unit and integration test cases
• Support high quality code by creating automated test scripts using Selenium Cucumber Jasmine and other tools
• Ensure application accessibility and Section 508 compliance
• Create and incorporate automation test cases into the CI/CD process
• Experienced with troubleshooting and debugging CI/CD pipeline failures
• Experienced in developing and debugging applications running in container architectures such as Kubernetes
• Research analyze and provide recommendations on new tools and technologies
• Create and update required documentation
• Mentor junior resources in the adoption and utilization of technologies and tools.
• Provide the ability to monitor system performance and uptime and quickly respond to issues when they occur
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies/meetings; providing demonstrations of code and contributing to the Agile team wherever required
• Mentor junior resources in the adoption and utilization of technologies and tools
• Lead technical feasibility analysis on potential future application projects to management
• Contribute to deliverables and performance metrics
• Apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments
• Participate in development of software user manuals technical deliverables and reports
• Work on sprint teams using agile rapid development in an environment using Continuous Integration and deployment techniques
• Support production application – investigate and resolve production inquiries and issues
• Communicate status to team lead/project oversight
• Security Clearance: US Citizen and ability to obtain government security clearance; Active Secret clearance or higher is preferred.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills to interact with team members customers and support personnel and be able to resolve issues with the customer in a timely manner
• Strong working knowledge of both front end and back end technology stacks
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies especially the CNCF graduated projects: ArgoCD Harbor ContainerD fluentd LinkerD Open Policy Agent and Helm
• Working experience with Hashicorp tools especially Terraform and Vault
• Strong working experience with CI/CD pipelines; including technologies such as Docker GitLab GitHub Artifactory and others
• Strong working experience of testing methods and technologies such as Selenium Cucumber Serenity JMeter Fortify etc.
• Working knowledge of AWS cloud services. Other cloud services like Azure and Google a big plus.
• Working knowledge of best practices around branching strategies versioning techniques and other DevOps practices.
• AWS Developer SysOps Solution Architect Certification is a plus.
• Working knowledge of management/tracking utilities such as JIRA/Confluence
• Experience working in a DevOps environment
• Working knowledge of CNCF Incubating project including Backstage Cert Manager Falco In-Toto Istio Longhorn Notary and Open Telemetry a big plus.
• CompTIA Security+ certification preferred
