DevOps Engineer, Associate

Summary: The DevOps Engineer will be imbedded within and work as part of our Agile teams to support the successful development, implementation, and operational aspects of our custom software solutions.  The DevOps Engineer will have a combined understanding of both engineering and coding practices and use the knowledge to manage operational and infrastructure related work with the Agile Teams.

System Administration

• Ensure that sprint objectives are completed in a timely manner, and consistently achieving team commitments.
• Support and administration of the OpenShift platform and containers.
• Create and maintain automation scripts to ensure information systems & services meet acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate and provide operational support to Agile Teams (e.g., file moves, messaging queues, production support, etc.).
• Create and maintain functionality of automation scripts / Infrastructure as Code using Ansible.
• Collaborate with Agile Teams to ensure appropriate monitoring of services and supporting infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Agile Teams to ensure the resiliency, availability, & scalability of the platform and deployed applications.
• Maintain general platform health and system integrity.
• Coordinate with other Team members to plan capacity and scaling needs.
• Work collaboratively with development and release teams to implement and ensure adherence to configuration management strategy.
• Manage / administer OpenShift infrastructure.

Qualifications/Education/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree, plus minimum of 1-3 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Variable work hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required due to the nature of installed technologies and utilization requirements.

Required:

• Deploy & maintain scalable and automated strategy – Infrastructure as Code.
• Linux and Windows server operating systems.
• OpenShift infrastructure.
• Support the development and implementation of software features using Agile Methodology.
• Kubernetes – Red Hat OpenShift
• Docker, Jenkins, GIT, Subversion
• Ansible or Puppet
• Linux, Bash and Shell Scripting
• Public Cloud - Azure

Preferred:

• Messaging Queues (JMS)
• SQL
• Batch Processing
• Virtualization and cloud technologies (e.g., Vmware & Azure)
• Apigee  

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Duties are performed primarily in a home office setting utilizing computer equipment.  Travel to attend meetings and visit locations throughout the country may be required.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
