Role Overview
As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless integration of development and operations for our accounting platform. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining deployment pipelines, optimizing infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and managing MySQL databases. Your expertise in Jenkins, GCP, and database management will be pivotal in enhancing the platform's performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or other modern CI/CD frameworks. Automate/Integrate the build, test, and deployment processes to ensure fast and reliable software delivery.
- Collaborate with software engineers to identify and resolve deployment-related challenges, promoting a culture of continuous integration and continuous deployment.
- Manage and optimize cloud-based infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including compute resources, networking, and storage services.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively implement solutions to enhance scalability, reliability, and security.
- Administer and fine-tune MySQL databases, ensuring efficient query performance, high availability, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Act as a confident self-starter, identifying opportunities for automation, process improvements, and implementing best practices across the DevOps lifecycle.
- Communicate effectively with team members, sharing insights, status updates, and technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines for a production application.
- Strong proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including experience with GCE, GKE, and other relevant services.
- Solid background in MySQL database management, including optimization, replication, and backup strategies.
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
- Effective communication skills, capable of collaborating with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer or similar are a strong advantage.
